Background Images On My Phone

My background image on my phone is the edge of an ocean

Clouds grey with a hint of orange

The softly wet sand reflects the sky

And I think about how it satisfies

A part of my brain I cannot identify

And I’m left wondering why

How can I find a feeling like that 

When I cannot be there to experience it 

So I close my eyes

And imagine the ocean 

And the sand 

What it would feel like 

To be there again 

I can even smell the salty cool breeze 

And to be honest it feels like it’s a tease

But I close my eyes tighter

And transport myself to that place 

Where the world has stilled

And so have the waves

And that background image on my screen

Comes to life

And I didn’t even have to take a drive to find it

It just lives in my mind
